Happy National Compliment Day! Today serves as a reminder to take the time to express appreciation, motivate others, and promote positive energy. Though this day is not dedicated to displaying appreciation in the workplace, as it should on a regular basis, we challenge you this National Compliment Day to take advantage of the holiday by expressing team member appreciation.

HAPPY, VALUED EMPLOYEES = MORE EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEES

Expressing appreciation to your employees will confirm that their work is valued by you as the business owner, and by your organization. It is proven that when employees feel they are valued, their satisfaction and productivity rises, motivating them to maintain or improve their good work.

Disclaimer: This does not need to be a grand gesture!

Appreciation can come in all shapes and sizes. Something as small as a handwritten note can go a long way with your team members. A small token of appreciation, such as the handwritten notes, is extremely personalized, meaningful and memorable.

Rewarding team members (no matter how grand) for their hard work is an excellent way to express your appreciation for them. Try treating a team member for lunch after they have completed a major project or won a sales deal. Lunch not in the budget? Try spontaneously shooting them an email with a motivational quote, funny meme, or praise for their efforts that is meaningful to them.

Challenge yourself as a business owner! Set a goal for yourself to show one employee appreciation in some form once a week.

It is human nature to crave affirmation for a job well done, even as adults! In turn, this positive energy will increase motivation and morale. Sounds like a win-win, right?
